Continuity Exercise Evaluation

First film: BTEC Continuity Exercise - QuackBy Horatio(me), Alex, Matt and Lucy

For this task we had to plan and shoot a short sequence of up to 20 shots in which a package of some kind changes hands.

Rules included:
We could not break the 180 degree rule and had to have no continuity errors. This meant we had to think carefully about how one shot relates to another.

We had to 'show not tell' which meant we couldn't have any dialogue.
We had to think carefully about things like tripods, camera cases and other things that we had to make sure were not in any shots. We also had to frame our shots carefully considering mise-en-scene as far as we were able to but mainly we were focused on continuity.

Our short sequence of shots shows a man walking through corridors with a briefcase in one hand. He reaches a room, where he opens the door, walks in and slams the case down on a desk with a serious man behind. The serious man opens the case to reveal a gun. As the first man turns to leave, the serious man pulls out the gun, points it towards the first man, and pulls the trigger. To the audiences surprise, the gun does not shoot like a real gun, but instead a quack from ducks can be heard.

We managed to keep continuity quite well throughout the sequence with a few mistakes.
Mistakes that happened:
At around 20 seconds in, the brief case jumps between the actors right hand to left hand. 50 seconds in and you can see our teacher working in the background and then at 1 minute she is gone. 30 seconds in, during the corridor shots, the man with the brief case appears further through the corridor than he has actually walked.
